The State Department spokesman, Philip Crowley, resigned over a controversial remarks in which he criticized the Pentagon for the conditions of detention of the soldier Bradley Manning, who was suspected of leaking confidential documents thousands of U.S. to WikiLeaks.

The powerful earthquake that shook Japan on Friday caused violent movements of land masses and seems to have displaced 2.4 meters Honshu, the main island of the Japanese archipelago, explained Kenneth Hudnut of the U.S. geological authority, on CNN .
